The award was handed over by the jury at the request of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). Yesterday, it was presented to Andriy Tsaplienko by Kyiv City Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
“I’m handing over my prize to the Armed Forces; it is the least I can do. And I call on all of us to support the Armed Forces,” said Andriy Tsaplienko.
“Thanks to the war correspondents and every Ukrainian media person, the Ukrainian information space is preserved, and enemy propaganda is repulsed with dignity. I wish Andriy luck and safe performing of professional duties! And a wonderful report about the Ukrainian Victory!” Sergiy Tomilenko, the President of the NUJU, who was present at the award ceremony, wrote on a social media network.
Andriy Tsaplienko is a Ukrainian journalist, war correspondent, presenter, screenwriter, NUJU member, author of five books, honored journalist of Ukraine, and a Knight of the Order For Courage of III and II degrees. On March 25, 2022, the occupiers injured the journalist while performing his professional duties in the Chernihiv Region.
