The President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Sergiy Tomilenko, returning from New York, where he took part in events on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, met in Poland with Joanna Krawczyk, the former head of the Gazeta Wyborcza Foundation, who currently works in the management of a powerful organization for transatlantic cooperation, The German Marshall Fund of the United States.
This is a person who supported Ukrainian journalists in every possible way within the framework of the Gazeta Wyborcza’s Ukrainian Media Fund (UMF) initiative.
“The provision of the first bulletproof vests and emergency funding to the NUJU in March-April 2022 was Joanna‘s work. Thanks to the UMF, we were able to financially and technically support dozens of newsrooms, especially those of local media. Joanna has the same ocean of ideas and inspiration to organize support for Ukrainian media… I am sure that Joanna is the best lobbying ambassador of real Ukrainian media in the international arena,” Sergiy Tomilenko wrote on Facebook.
