“I was on my way home and here was a ‘surprise’,” Kherson journalist Valentyna Pestushko tells the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) news service. Her car – a “workhorse” without which professional activity in a frontline city is impossible – was smashed to pieces after a russian drone attacked the parking lot. The car is running, but one side will have to be replaced.

The incident occurred on May 15 near the media worker’s home. The day before, the same parking lot was attacked by four FPV drones – then a person was injured.

According to Valentyna Pestushko, the russians are relentlessly terrorizing the city: not a day goes by without people dying as a result of drone attacks. Recently, a Molniya drone crashed into the apartment building where the journalist lives with her family.

“We were sitting in the kitchen, turned on the Hover drone detector — and realized that we were seeing a kindergarten near the house on the screen, and then our windows. We immediately ran into the corridor — there was a loud explosion. The landing occurred two windows away from us,” recalls Valentyna.

Due to the security situation, the media worker intends to move: the occupiers are increasingly attacking her residential block.

“They take one square and “work it out” to the maximum. They achieve that people leave there, and then they take on another block — and they fire just as accurately,” adds the journalist.
