Within the framework of the Grant Agreement between the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and the Gazeta Wyborcza Foundation, the NUJU, at the expense of the Ukrainian Media Fund (UMF) financing, was able to help pay the salaries of full-time and freelance employees of 27 regional newsrooms.

It concerns 20 newspapers, four online media publications, and three TV and radio companies, which were recommended as a result of participation in the partner projects of the NUJU being politically independent media. As a result, 76 Ukrainian mass media workers received assistance.

These funds are a direct contribution of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the UMF initiative.

The UMF was created by four media organizations from Northern European countries (Federation of Finnish media Finnmedia; Danish mass media – Danske Medier; Swedish Association of Media Publishers and Norwegian Media Business Association) and two publishing houses – Bonnier Group from Sweden and Agora SA (as Voting Newspaper Foundation) from Poland.
