The print press in wartime, the safety of journalists, and the challenges faced by Ukrainian media professionals — these important issues were discussed by the First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Lina Kushch, with Swedish partners who visited the Union’s office on May 1: Senior Advisor to the leading news provider in Sweden and the largest media group in the Scandinavian region, Bonnier News, Thomas Mattsson, and Head of Security at Bonnier News, Crister Ohlsson.

The Swedish colleagues got acquainted with the work of the Kyiv Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) and the NUJU office, the peculiarities of the functioning of local newsrooms operating under the threat of shelling, as well as the economic problems of the media due to the loss of advertising markets.

The NUJU continues to cooperate with international colleagues who contribute to informing the world community about the real state of the Ukrainian media space and help in finding ways to support independent journalism in Ukraine.
