The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), with the support of Reporters Without Borders, invites journalists, freelancers, and media workers who continue to work in Ukraine to take part in the specialized training titled Journalists’ Work In Conditions Of Radiation Danger.

The training will take place in an offline format in Kyiv on August 15, 2023. After successfully completing the training, each participant will receive a specialized set of protective equipment based on the DuPont TYCHEM 6000F coverall.

The number of participants is limited! Registration continues until August 7, 2023, via: https://forms.gle/DgTYZE1iZeZKVnwn9

Selected participants will receive a confirmation letter indicating the exact time and place of the event.

Training participants will learn about the following:

1.       Radiation threat. Characteristics, properties, danger.

2.       Personal safety measures for journalists in radiation danger zones.

3.       How to properly wear protective suits?

4.       Specifics of actions in the zone of radiation contamination.

5.       The work of journalists in the conditions of man-made disasters.

Why is this important?

Russian terrorists have repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons against Ukrainians. In addition, occupiers have actually turned the territory of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant into a military base and are carrying out dangerous operations on it with the use of nuclear reactors. In the conditions of the increased threat of radiation pollution, journalists, other media workers, and freelancers who continue to work in Ukraine should know how to act correctly in radiation danger zones in order to save their lives and minimize harm to their health.

Coaches:

Maksym Dovhanovskyi, an international expert on radiation and chemical protection, cooperates with the OSCE and NATO; and has 18 years of rescuer experience.

Yuliya Surkova, a war journalist working with Agence France-Presse (AFP) and the United Nations, has considerable experience working in areas of man-made disasters.

Organizer: The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) with the support of Reporters Without Borders.
