The National Board of Review (NBR) has announced the winners of the 2025 film awards. Among the winners is the Ukrainian documentary 2000 Meters to Andriyivka, which was put on the list of the five best documentaries of the year.

Founded in 1909, the NBR is one of the oldest film organizations in the United States, which annually recognizes outstanding achievements in cinema. This year, the expert board reviewed 265 films, after which it announced the winners in various nominations.

Besides, the list includes:

  • Come See Me in the Good Light
  • My Mom Jayne
  • Natchez
  • Orwell: 2+2=5

The 2000 Meters to Andriyivka film tells about the events of the russian-Ukrainian war and became an important testimony of the modern history of Ukraine at the international level.

The NBR awards ceremony will be held on January 13, 2026 in New York at the Cipriani 42nd Street hall. The event will be hosted by Willie Geist, the host of NBC News’ Sunday TODAY, and co-hosted by the host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

The main victory of this year’s ceremony was the film One Battle After Another directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, which received awards as the best film of the year, and also brought victories in the nominations for best director and best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Recognition from the NBR is an important achievement for Ukrainian cinema and confirms international interest in documenting events in Ukraine.
