More than fifty participants from different parts of Ukraine joined the teleconference bridge Language As Protection Of Ukrainian Information Space, which was held by the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of King Danylo University. The event was held in an online/offline format as part of the celebration of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language.

The thematic meeting was attended by the First Secretary of the NUJU, Lina Kushch, coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC Viktoriya Plakhta and assistant of the Center Bohdana Zasidko, acting head of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of King Danylo University Inna Varvaruk, employees of the network of NUJU‘s JSCs. The event was also attended by representatives of domestic media, including displaced journalists, public activists, and higher education students of journalism faculties from Dnipro, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi.

Lina Kushch addressed the participants of the teleconference bridge with a welcoming speech, joining the event from the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg, where she participated in an international conference on the safety of journalists.

Despite the challenges, recent years have also shown positive developments due to current events and, as a result, an increase in the level of understanding of the importance of language. After all, language is not only a means of communication and integration but also a fundamental part of the identity of the nation, the roots of historical memory and cultural heritage. Therefore, it is extremely important to form Ukrainian content only in the state language. This was emphasized, in particular, during the teleconference bridge by the head of the Chernivtsi regional organization of the NUJU, the assistant of the Unified Western Ukrainian JSC, Volodymyr Bober, the executive secretary of the Chernihiv regional journalistic center Olha Cherniakova, and other participants in the conference.

In general, during the teleconference bridge, each of its participants had the opportunity to share their experience in creating Ukrainian information content and provide recommendations to colleagues on actively filling the domestic information space.

Associate Professor/Professor of the Department of Law and Public Administration of King Danylo University Oleksandr Ostrohliad drew the attention of the participants in the teleconference bridge to certain legal aspects regarding the functioning of the Ukrainian language.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC at 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk Center). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
