The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and the SEMA Ukraine non-governmental organization invite you to the roundtable called How Journalists Should Cover Stories Of Survivors Of War-related Sexual Violence.
The event will take place at the NUJU press center at 27A Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv on Tuesday, May 30, at 1 p.m.
Speakers of the event:
Iryna Dovhan, the head of the NGO SEMA Ukraine;
Liudmyla Huseinova, a volunteer/citizen journalist who spent three years in captivity in Donetsk;
Olena Lazareva, a board member of the NGO SEMA Ukraine.
The roundtable will be moderated by Lina Kushch, the NUJU First Secretary.
Members of the NGO SEMA Ukraine, women, who have suffered from sexual violence related to the conflict, are invited to participate in the event.
Roundtable topics:
- problems of women survivors of war-related sexual violence;
- state support for such women;
- ethical principles and uncovered aspects in covering the topic of war-related sexual violence;
- how journalists can help solve the problems of affected women.

SEMA Ukraine has existed since 2019 as a part of the global network, SEMA NETWORK, founded by the international organization Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation. The organization unites Ukrainian women who suffered from sexual and gender-based violence due to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and those with an active civic positions.
