The primary organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) at King Danylo University has undergone a leadership change, which was delayed by the reporting and election meeting. In addition to the members of the primary center, the meeting was attended by the secretary of the NUJU/coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC), Viktoriya Plakhta, and the deputy head of the audit commission of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Union of Journalists/JSC assistant, Bohdana Zasidko.

During the meeting, the secretary, Oleksandr Ostrohliad, reported on the organization’s work for the previous period. He spoke about the activities of the university primary center of the NUJU in implementing various initiatives in the media sphere, holding a number of events aimed at popularizing the profession of journalist.

Viktoriya Plakhta noted the active work of the primary organization of the NUJU at King Danylo University. She emphasized the close cooperation of the primary with the regional union of journalists and the JSC.

“It is nice that the primary organization of the King Danylo University of Kyiv is one of the most active among the journalistic centers in the region. Our joint events and initiatives, which we hold together within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the regional union, the JSC and the University, are always interesting and necessary, aimed at the development of domestic journalism. Gratitude to everyone and further fruitful cooperation for us,” said Viktoriya Plakhta.

Oleksandr Ostrohliad, who moved to a teaching job in another city, resigned as secretary of the primary organization of the NUJU. According to the results of the vote, the journalistic center was headed by the assistant dean of the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences of the University of Kyiv. The deputy secretaries of the primary organization were members of the union, Alina Lavoryk and Oleksandra Borzionok.

“The primary organization of the NUJU at our university is a space for students and teachers who strive to develop journalism, uphold professional values, and support freedom of speech,” said Lidiya Vitranchyk, the newly elected secretary of the primary center. We congratulate the newly elected leadership of the primary organization of the NUJU at King Danylo University and look forward to further fruitful cooperation.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO and with the support of the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC at 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
