The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) was one of the organizations to sign the declaration last year. This year, the Union offered suggestions and amendments included in the document.

The latest amendments to the text of the declaration were discussed during the online coordination meeting of the Global Forum for Media Development attended by Lina Kushch, the First Secretary of the NUJU.

“I consider the items on the financial independence of the media and the avoidance of so-called ‘news deserts’ at the national, local, and hyperlocal levels to be particularly important,” Lina Kushch noted.

The full text of the updated declaration is available at the link.

As earlier reported, members and partners of the Global Forum for Media Development made a statement a year ago at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia as a sign of solidarity with the media and journalists in Ukraine.
