In the greeting prepared by PEN America at the request of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Suzanne Nossel, noted the work of Ukrainian media and expressed her gratitude to them.

Suzanne Nossel also said that journalists do an extraordinary job telling the world about the horrors that Ukrainians faced and bringing the stories of heroic individuals to a broad audience.

“You’re doing essential documentation keeping the world informed, laying the groundwork for accountability, and showing your courage and commitment in a very difficult time. So, I salute you, and I hope World Journalism Day is a time to fortify yourselves for what is yet to come. Thank you for your very hard work!” said the address.
