Mobilize the efforts of the world community to support the provision of F-16 aircraft, air defense, and anti-missile defense systems to Ukraine for its protection is the address of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) to the world community and the International and European Federations of Journalists.

The corresponding address was approved during the extended meeting of the NUJU Board on July 6.

The address emphasized that it is extremely important to strengthen Ukraine with F-16 aircraft, air defense, and anti-missile defense systems as this is necessary in order to cover the sky and protect the country’s infrastructure, nuclear power plants, hydropower plants, etc., from destruction.

“The delay in the provision of such equipment leads to an ever-increasing catastrophe in our country,” the document says. “The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine calls on the world community, the International and European Federations of Journalists to take all possible measures for political, diplomatic and public pressure on the European countries authorities so that the latter provide such assistance to Ukraine as soon as possible. We call on you to help Ukraine protect the civilian population!”

The NUJU Information Service publishes the full text of the address.

We urge you to help Ukraine protect the sky (NUJU Board’s statement)

Mobilize the efforts of the world community for solidarity support in calls for the provision of F-16 aircraft and air defense and anti-missile defense systems to Ukraine for the protection of our country

For almost 500 days (since the unprovoked large-scale invasion by terrorist Russia), the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have held the sky over Ukraine. 24/7 fighters are ready to destroy enemy missiles and drones at any moment. For almost 1.5 years of a large-scale war, they have achieved such skill that they can already calculate the tactics of the Russians.

No one in the world has yet faced such an opponent because the enemy is strong, insidious, lying, and does everything to destroy Ukraine and its people: it demolishes cities and villages, uses weapons prohibited by international conventions, kills civilians, commits genocide, ecocide, threatens Ukraine and all humanity with a nuclear catastrophe. The Ukrainian army selflessly defends the future not only of our country but also of the civilized world!

Despite all Ukraine’s appeals to the civilized world for help to cover the sky over Ukraine by providing modern, powerful air defense and missile defense systems and F-16 military multipurpose aircraft. Only in the fall of 2022, we began to receive the first Western equipment – NASAMS and IRIS-T. At that time, it significantly strengthened our air defense. Later, they received Patriot systems, which are still insufficient to protect against missile and drone attacks.

It is extremely important to strengthen our country with F-16 aircraft, air defense, and anti-missile systems – we really need this to cover the sky because time is running out, the enemy continues to attack the very infrastructure of the country, nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power plants, etc.

The delay in providing such equipment leads to an ever-increasing disaster in our country.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine calls on the world community, the International and European Federations of Journalists, to take all possible measures for political, diplomatic, and public pressure on the power structures of European countries so that the latter provide such assistance to Ukraine as soon as possible.

We urge you to help Ukraine protect the civilian population!

The address was approved at an extended meeting of the NUJU Board on July 6, 2023 (with the participation of the heads of NUJU regional organizations, members of the Secretariat, and the Audit Commission of the Union of Journalists).
