“From now on, the Nashe Zhyttia newspaper from the front-line town of Novomykolayivka, in the Zaporizhzhia Region, will be able to continue working even in the dark and maintain the information front,” says its editor-in-chief, Kateryna Zavarzina. “As part of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) Program called Strengthening Energy Independence of Ukrainian Media, we received an EcoFlow River 2 Max charging station. This is invaluable technical support for our local media. The charging station will enable the autonomous operation of the media during blackouts, power laptops, cameras, and lighting, and ensure the stable operation of routers both in the office and in the field.”

“The war has radically changed the lives of all residents of our communities. But constant attacks on energy infrastructure cannot stop our resistance and, of course, the journalistic word. Our small female team consistently covers the events of the Zaporizhzhia Region. It persistently continues to inform readers in conditions of instability,” emphasized the editor-in-chief of the publication.

Incidentally, we would like to note that the second stage of this campaign has now been implemented, aimed at supporting regional and local publications, online newsrooms, and television and radio companies with editorial independence that adhere to journalistic standards, as a result of which 10 more newsrooms will receive EcoFlow charging stations. These are mainly media from the regions most affected by russian aggression. Among them is the editorial staff of Radio Maximum from Zaporizhzhia.

This support is part of a broader program of the NUJU with the support of the Ukrainian Media Fund. In total, 40 newsrooms have already received charging stations that help the media remain operational and independent.

We previously reported that the second stage of the regional media support program was implemented by the NUJU in cooperation with the Ukrainian Media Fund – to ensure uninterrupted work in conditions of constant shelling and blackouts, 10 newsrooms will receive EcoFlow charging stations.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO, and with the support of the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.

Contact the Zaporizhzhia JSC at 096 277 5352 (Nataliya Kuzmenko and Valentyna Manzhura, the coordinators of the Center). The Center’s address is 15 Sobornyi Avenue.
