The festival of school media and young authors of the Sumy Region titled Media World Leads To The Universe 2023-2024 is open.

This was announced by its organizers at the press conference.

The festival is held by the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications of Sumy State University in partnership with the Sumy Regional Organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), the Sumy Press Club non-governmental organization, and the Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration.

To participate, you need to apply to the organizing committee by December 31, 2023. The results will be tallied in the period of April-May 2024.

The festival includes competition for school editions; individual competition of young authors named after Vasyl Chubur; competition of advertising projects Eighth Color; competition for the best photo story; online classes for those who want to learn journalism; online/offline media literacy school; online language club Let’s Talk; excursions-quests to the department of journalism and philology of Sumy State University for the winners of the festival competitions and its active participants; summary and presentation of awards.

Rules and forms of conduct, registration dates, requirements for registration of materials, etc., are set out in the Regulation.

In general, the festival of school media and young authors Media World Leads To The Universe in the Sumy Region is starting for the third time.

Commemorating the start of the co-chair of the organizing committee of the festival, the head of the regional organization of the NUJU, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, noted that the Media World Leads To The Universe festival is designed to maximally involve children in work – mental and intellectual activity, and this works better than dozens of psychologists.

“Due to the war, the nature of the festival has changed somewhat: earlier, the major emphasis was on collective work on school media; today, it is mostly about individual creative work of schoolchildren,” emphasized the head of the Sumy Press Club NGO / associate professor of the department of journalism and philology of Sumy State University / honored journalist of Ukraine / contact person of the festival organizing committee and co-chairman of the competition jury, Alla Fedoryna. “Yes, there was Covid, the war is going on, and working with schoolchildren in an online format takes away many opportunities for collective work. But there were, are, and will be a teacher and a talented student who can work on the development of a child’s creative abilities.”
