At a recent meeting of the secretariat of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional union of journalists, 20-year-old machine gunner Oksana Rubaniak, the author of digital content, was accepted as a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

Oksana Rubaniak’s pseudonym is Xena. She is a courageous, brave, and devoted young girl who, at the age of 19, stood up for the defense of Ukraine. She is currently being treated for injuries sustained at the front. She knows a lot about the war. Therefore, her publications are distinguished from others written “in the rear” by their frankness, meaningfulness, and depth of understanding of the problem called the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, Oksana took an active part in public life. She studied at a university and worked in the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. She headed the Youth Council.

In the first days of the full-scale invasion, the girl joined the voluntary formation of the territorial community, patrolled the city with other volunteers, and went to the combat zone carrying aid there. But in two months, she decided to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and became a machine gunner of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade Chorni Zaporozhtsi.

In addition to journalistic articles, Oksana Rubaniak is the author of two books: Ornaments of Fate, published when she was 17, and Facing Death, written by Oksana in the trenches.

Currently, Oksana is in Ivano-Frankivsk undergoing rehabilitation after a battle wound. She says she feels an obligation to return to her brothers.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC by dialing 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC coordinator). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
