At the forum titled Free to Choose. Strong Together, Lina Kushch, the First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and member of the board of the Numo, Sisters non-governmental organization, emphasized that the voice of affected women should be heard on international platforms as confidently as the voice of Ukrainian media workers.
“We set ourselves the goal of advocating for the rights of women who survived captivity, torture, and sexual violence during the war,” she emphasized.
According to Lina Kushch, the Numo, Sisters organization has strengthened international advocacy over the year so that the demand for interim reparations for victims is taken into account in decisions made by governments and international institutions.
This includes supporting women who have returned from captivity and freeing those whose portraits still stand in the hall. Members of the organization spoke at the UN, OSCE, ICC, and European Parliament, raising the issue of urgent assistance and recognition of crimes against Ukrainian women.
“Together we can show the path that leads to justice,” Lina Kushch emphasized.
