The staff of the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) met Tetiana Kryvonis, the editor of Ukrainian Radio Kharkiv, after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russia, when they monitored the conditions in which media workers work in the Kharkiv Region. For more than a year, the media woman remained in her native Nova Vodolaha, sometimes traveling to Kharkiv, sometimes working remotely. In the spring of 2023, Tetiana moved to Ivano-Frankivsk.

This is what Tetiana Kryvonis said:

“I did not have any particularly difficult moments regarding adaptation in a new city. My colleague Roman Kryvko, who lived here and worked remotely after the full-scale invasion, talked a lot about Ivano-Frankivsk. After all, I’m even renting the same apartment he used to live in. And it was Roman who introduced me to the employees of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC long before I moved. Since then, I have been cooperating with the Center, trying to participate in various events that it holds.

It is not possible to join all the events of the JSC, but the ones that I attended are worth a lot of attention. For example, it was thanks to the Center that she made a trip to the mountains together with local journalists and fellow displaced persons. In two days, we traveled 45 kilometers through the mountain massifs and climbed the peaks of Velyka Syvulia and Mala Syvulia, which rise more than 1,800 meters above sea level! Or can we forget the trip to Kryvyi Rih and Verkhovyna, which the JSC also organized? Visiting museums and talking with colleagues at a round table about the adaptation of IDP media workers in Prykarpattia and the work of local media was informative and interesting. More! There, I got acquainted with the work of colleagues from the radio station Hutsulska Stolytsia and the newspaper Verkhovynski Visti, in short – I was impressed.

The JSC has created comfortable conditions for the work of media workers. Everything you need is here: laptops, photocopier, printer, scanner, internet. And also – a friendly atmosphere, an opportunity to chat with colleagues over a cup of tea or coffee. Thanks to the Center and its employees, I know that I am not alone. And this supports and inspires to work further. I am grateful for your being here! In particular, thanks to you, I feel at home in a different part of Ukraine,” says Tetiana Kryvonis, a displaced journalist from the Kharkiv Region.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC at 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC coordinator). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
