Illarion Pavliuk, who completed his service in the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, has headed the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The journalist himself has announced this via a social network.
“[I am] incredibly proud of the right to have an owl on the chevron, which I have had for the past year and a half. I can honestly say that I was lucky to serve in the Defense Intelligence… My comrades in the intelligence group were reliable desperadoes with their heads on their shoulders. [I am] alive thanks to that. I accept the new position of the head of the Press and Information Department of the Ministry of Defense,” Illarion Pavliuk wrote.
He also thanked the Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov for believing in him and his team.
Illarion Pavliuk was born in the city of Skadovsk, Kherson Region, in 1980. He graduated from East Ukrainian Volodymyr Dahl National University. In 2001, he moved to Kyiv. He worked as an international reporter specializing in the Arab-Israeli conflict. He also became the author of a number of documentaries and several novels. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, Illarion Pavliuk was mobilized in one of the intelligence units of the Ukrainian army.
