Volodymyr Pronenko, a well-known Ukrainian journalist, author of numerous publications in periodicals and books, long-time board member of the Kyiv organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), and the editor-in-chief of the Kyiv Journalist almanac, has passed away.
Volodymyr Pronenko comes from the Poltava Region. In 1965, he graduated from Horoshynsk secondary school. Since his school years, he has been published in local newspapers. In 1969-1974, he studied at the Faculty of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. A separate page in his journalistic life is his work in responsible positions at the Radio and Telegraph Agency of Ukraine (currently known as Ukrinform), where his talent as a reporter, analyst, and organizer of the creative process was fully revealed. For a number of years, he worked in decision-making bodies, in particular as the head of the secretariat of a Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a member of the Commission on the Preparation of the Concept of Development of Ukraine as a Social State.
Volodymyr Pronenko was an active member of the NUJU, was elected a member of the board of its Kyiv organization, for a long time was the editor-in-chief of its magazine Kyivskyi Journalist, had a high, well-deserved authority in our union society. This authority was determined by the openness and sincerity of his soul, his concern for people, and his informal willingness to support colleagues. And also – an example of true professionalism, tirelessness, and fruitfulness in journalistic creativity. This, in particular, is convincingly evidenced by one of his latest works – the book of essays and journalistic articles called What He Perceived By Heart, for which, in 2019, he was awarded the Kyiv Art Prize in the field of journalism named after Anatolii Moskalenko.
Volodymyr Pronenko was a faithful and devoted comrade, a friend, a modest, delicate person, with a calm, gentle character.
He will remain so in our memories, in the memory of all who knew him.
