On May 30, at 1 p.m., a press conference titled Illegal Detention, Torture, Captivity: How and Why Russia is Waging the War Against Ukrainian Media Workers will be held.

Organizers: Media center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

Speakers: Tetiana Katrychenko – executive director of the Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR); Arnaud Froger – Head of Investigation Desk at Reporters Without Borders, author of the investigation into the abduction of Dmytro Khyliuk, a journalist of UNIAN (online); Oksana Romaniuk – director of the Institute of Mass Information; Lina Kushch – First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU); Vasyl Khyliuk – father of journalist Dmytro Khyliuk, illegally detained by Russia.

Why is this interesting?

The MIHR has collected detailed data on more than 30 media persons held by the Russian occupiers.

During the press conference, the speakers will announce the facts about the war crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainian media workers since 2014, as well as make public the latest data on Ukrainian media workers captured and illegally detained by the Russian Federation. The fate of many remains unknown. Among them is UNIAN journalist Dmytro Khyliuk, who was abducted by the Russian military on March 3, 2022, during the occupation of the Kyiv Region.

The format of the event is offline (Hall 1) + online inclusion.

Journalists will be able to ask questions offline (Hall 1) and in the chat of the YouTube broadcast.

Please arrive half an hour before the event.

Accreditation of media representatives will be carried out before the event at the agency.

The event will be broadcast on the Ukrinform YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/UkrinformTV.

Ukrinform’s address: Kyiv, 8/16 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street.

The use of any materials from the official Ukrinform YouTube channel is possible only if the copyright established by the channel is respected. During the demonstration of the video during the live broadcast, it is necessary to refer to the author – Ukrinform – to show his name on the screen and say it out loud.
