The blast wave from a drone hitting a neighboring 14-story building damaged the apartment of the head of the Dnipro organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Oleksii Kovalchuk.
As he said in a comment to the NUJU, the impact literally blew out all the windows and the balcony. Fortunately, no one was injured – the residents of the apartment were not at home at the time of the impact. Now an IDP family from Pokrovsk lives in the Kovalchuks‘ 2-room apartment.
“Thank God that the boys were at school, and their mother was at work. That’s why everything worked out,” said Oleksii Kovalchuk.
The home of his wife’s parents in the same building, was also damaged during the impact. His wife is the editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper, Visti Prydniproviya, Nataliya Kovalchuk. The parents were at home at the time of the powerful explosion, so they experienced considerable stress. The wave destroyed the balcony, but the windows survived because they were open.
