Journalists Matter: the Steering Committee on the implementation of the Council of Europe Campaign for the Safety of Journalists is starting to operate in Ukraine
The Committee, approved by order of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, included representatives of the authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense, law enforcement agencies, and well-known media experts.
The head of the Committee is the Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Rostyslav Karandieiev.
Among the members of the Committee are the President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Sergiy Tomilenko, a member of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Oleksandr Burmahin, the head of the Strategic Communications Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Tsurika, the head of the expert group on working with target audiences of the Directorate of Information Policy in the field of defense and strategic communications of the Ministry of Defense, Oleksandr Motuzianyk.
The Committee also includes well-known media experts on the safety of journalists, Oksana Romaniuk (IMI), Svitlana Ostapa (Media Detector), Lisa Kuzmenko (Women in the Media), and Olha Vdovenko (Human Rights Platform).
The director of the information policy and information security department of the Ministry of Culture, Hanna Krasnostup, will coordinate the activities of the newly created Committee.
