Slobidskyi Krai, the oldest newspaper in the Kharkiv Region, has published a special issue for the front-line communities of the region with a circulation of 10,000 copies. It will continue to be published monthly for the next seven months.

“Residents of the de-occupied territories are waiting for our special issues. In some communities, there are problems with communication and electricity, so a printed newspaper is almost the only way to get relevant and useful information. Printing and distributing a newspaper for free is quite a costly process; we thank our partners for their help. The special issue is already on its way to readers,” said the editor-in-chief of the publication, Larysa Hnatchenko.

Last year, Larysa Hnatchenko told the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) how the newsroom managed to bring Slobidskyi Krai back to life.

The special issue of the newspaper was created within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX).

It contains advice on personal and information security, information on humanitarian aid, and news from the region.
