“Members of the NUJU Press Club called We Are From Ukraine – editors of regional and local print media from the de-occupied and front-line territories, NUJU leaders and representatives of the Union‘s Board and Secretariat, authoritative journalists who contributed to the information defense of Ukraine from various regions such as Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, etc. – had a meeting with Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev,” noted NUJU President Sergiy Tomilenko, expressing deep gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Serhii Nayev thanked the meeting participants for their work on the information front and, in particular, noted:
- You cover the victorious exploits of servicemen, tell the people of Ukraine the truth, and make everyone in their place important in our bright future victory. The enemy must be beaten on all fronts, including the informational one. Each of you directs your skill, expertise, and professional level to do everything possible on the pages of newspapers, in electronic publications, and in the media that are broadcast on social networks so that every Ukrainian understands how terrible this aggression of the russian federation is, how insidious the enemy’s plans are. They are trying to say that Ukraine never existed, and they want to confirm it with their military actions. But they have not succeeded since February 24 and are not succeeding now from the directions where they are trying to attack Ukraine.
Also, General Nayev said that the Armed Forces, in cooperation with other components of the security and defense sector, are fighting for every piece of Ukrainian land and noted that now the war has moved into the realm of resource struggle.
- The russian federation is helped by states that are recognized around the world as supporters of terrorism. Ukraine is helped by the leading countries of the world, the Western world, and together with our partners, we take all possible measures, taking into account the resources currently available in the Armed Forces, to stop the enemy and continue our combat work on the front line. In the Volyn, Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv Regions, the Bogodukhiv district of the Kharkiv Region, and in the Cherkasy Region, we are carrying out the task of strengthening our defense lines and neutralizing sabotage groups of the enemy who are trying to advance from the russian federation. We are taking measures to train our servicemen, coordinate units, and maintain them at the appropriate levels of readiness to respond to the aggressor’s actions.
During the conversation with Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, the journalists received answers to their questions, talked about how their media covers military topics and cooperates with the military, and also sincerely thanked all the Armed Forces of Ukraine for protecting our state, every corner of the country from the aggressor.
In particular, Pavlo Smovzh, the editor-in-chief of the Trybuna Pratsi newspaper from the Ivankiv Community of the Kyiv Region, said that after the de-occupation of the Kyiv Region, not only did he resume publishing the newspaper but also began recording the victorious deeds of our soldiers and war crimes committed by the enemy in the territory of the Ivankiv District. His work was summarized in the book called Ukrainian Invincivility Fragments. A copy of the book was presented by Pavlo Smovzh to Serhii Nayev.
We have been observing a strong connection and a strong relationship between the Armed Forces and local media journalists for many years, since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine. The NUJU trained local journalists and advised how to build relations with the military. And the Armed Forces listen to our advice and recommendations.
