Relatives of soldiers should see their photos in newspapers and read about them, believes journalist Vasyl Marchenko from Cherkasy, who started his journalistic career 57 years ago.
He spoke about his journalistic and volunteer job at the front during the visit of the First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Lina Kushch, to Cherkasy, where the Murdered Free Speech project was presented.
“Relatives should see photos of their family members [soldiers] and read stories within the limits of what is allowed. Therefore, I went to the front, both alone and with volunteers. I try to take as many photos as possible. I don’t aim to photograph weapons: I photograph warriors without weapons. Every trip is dangerous. But despite these dangers, we must move and work,” the journalist says.
We thank Vasyl Ivanovych [Marchenko] and all Ukrainian journalists for their work and courage!
