On May 29, Lviv resident Viktor Petrov, 33, the first editor-in-chief of the Sykhiv Media online publication, was killed in the battles on the Bakhmut axis.

“In 2016-2019, Victor was the first editor-in-chief of the online publication of Sykhiv Media. So, he was engaged in videography: he shot documentaries, video stories, and commercial video clips. Together with journalist Gala Kozyutinska, he established a creative shooting and editing studio, and in the last year – a creative school for Lviv teenagers and forced migrants,” said the editor-in-chief of Sykhiv Media, Karina Rokhanska. “For a long time, Viktor was a board member of the Social Initiatives Institute non-governmental organization.”

“Viktor was a member of the SII family, an activist, a conscious citizen,” the Social Initiatives Institute informs. “Founded the WHAT IF creative studio and the What If Creative School. He was the initiator of many projects, making a great contribution to the country’s development.”

At the end of 2022, Viktor was mobilized; he fought in the ranks of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa on the eastern axis.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and everyone who knew and loved Viktor Petrov. Eternal memory and gratitude!
